Drysdale mangoes are sourced from all over the Philippines through established buying stations to ensure regular access to fresh mangoes all year round. Because the majority of Drysdale mangoes are exported, they go through a series of stringent quality control measures to ensure only the best quality mangoes get the Drysdale name. After picking, our mangoes are meticulously sorted and graded according to size and skin quality. Export grade mangoes must comply with requirements for maturity, degree of cleanliness, firmness and absence of infestation.

All mangoes, especially those exported to Japan and Korea, undergo a non-toxic, non-chemical disinfestation treatment involving the use of heated air saturated with water vapor, a process commonly known as vapor heat treatment or VHT. MDFC owns and operates one of the major VHT facilities in the Philippines. The VHT process involves sorting of fresh carabao mangoes and subjecting them to heat treatment of up to 46 degrees centigrade. Quality control is strictly monitored by ensuring that only fresh mangoes weighing at least 150 grams are exported.

Deriving its name from Man-kay or Man-gay-a, the Tamil term for fruit, mangoes have been a part of Philippine life since it's introduction by Chinese and Arab traders in the 15th century. Our warm climate and fertile soil proved to be the perfect match, and the Philippines is currently one of the largest producers and exporters of mangoes in Asia.

Drysdale has been a major player in the Philippine mango business since 1985. Through the Marsman Drysdale FoodsCorporation (MDFC), Drysdale's expertise in the mango business is diverse - from production, to the processing of the mango fruit to purees, to the manufacture, bottling & distribution of juices.

MDFC 3,500 square meter heat treatment plant is located at the Food Terminal, Inc. (FTI) complex in Taguig City, Manila. Our facilities are capable of processing 12 metric tons for each three-hour treatment cycle. Individually wrapped VHT-treated mangoes are then packed in 5 kg carton boxes and shipped immediately via sea or air cargo to Japan and Korea.
